Eck! On the other had some people have exams upto the 27th of June! (They suck, hehe)
Lots of nice friendly exams there, General Studies is okay with me though, and Computing is pretty easy. So wish me luck on the Technology and Math exams...
I need it with math.

The battlesystem is now broken, damn it!!
The idea was that when you get to attack, you ask yourself:- "Am I a monster or a player?" If you are a player, draw a menu... etc...
It works, but its broken in more ways than one now... poor me...

Well, the battle times work again! But I have encountered a problem with my logic...
Note to Flik: Local copies of a global variable do not help in anyway whatsoever!!

Something went wrong with my battle-timers... They stopped working... Or resetting or something along those lines...
The baddies get turn after turn until they kill you, and the baddies have a ghost in their team so for now they are undefeateable...

I made a wrapper for my menu class, so now I have a shop class, ehehe, its great.
So I have the basics of a shop, and it works, yay! $34 for a potion though?! Geeze, the herb store isn't a great place to shop, btw, the theme-generator was ditched... Too many cookies are needed to allow a good level of customization...

All the themes are validated now.. They all pass, apart from the scrollbar attributes in the body tags... Nevermind... I didn't want a horrible looking w3c CSS standards button anyway...

No longer are the monsters just cute by-standers in the world that is Flik's battlesystem... Hell no.. They splat at you!!!
/me draws his sword and takes a stance against purple and green, and whatever blob's... die!! Also, if you have ideas for the battlesystem, play the version I released a while or so back, and goto Oh and everyone: ezboard to tell me about it...
Hhmm, yeah. The splat animation looks cool though. Also, I have new website themes... Blimey (already mentioned before, heh, sorry to bore you with the same info) and Higgs. Check 'em out, they might just not burn your eyes as much as the current theme you're using...

Heh, now I need a way to optimize the stats graphs... As far as I can see there are three ways to level up stats.. New stats by graph (done), new stats by data files, and new stats by equation...
Level ups by graph, good and bad points: Bad point, very slow, esp. if the player level ups by 179 levels... (What, you think that sounds unlikely?) Good point: Very, very easy to design and make pretty cool, minimal thought process required. Making a learning curve is as simple as drawing a line (heh, a curve rather) on a image...
Level ups by data files, good and bad points: Bad point, tedious to write all the values of stats per level.. Good point: Not as slow as graphs... Could be generated using the graphs... Would take up more space though... They'd look like lvl = value... And well, that would take up more for 100 values than 100^2 pixels on a graph... Or would it, heh, yeah!
Level ups by equations, good and bad points: Bad point, takes alot of thought process.. I mean, how do you decide the new hp value? How on Earth can you make a learning curve using an equation? It would end up looking like x^3 - 4x + 3, which is quadratics.. And quadratics are evil!! Good points: Very very bloody fast!
Anyway..
I turned all the entity.hp, .mp, .str, .def, things to entity.stats.mp, .stats.mp, .stats.def, etc...
Heh, so I changed from having like HTMLelement.blah like in Netscape 4, to the microsoft way of thinking.. which is HTMLelement.style.blah... Heh, apart from HTMLelement is entity and .style is .stats... |
Stats can now be done by graph, it rocks!!

My battlesystem has timed code now.. very accurate stuff.. Very neat..
I tried the battle with the normal time per turn as 250 milliseconds.. with players with speeds at 10, 20, 50 and 75.. against some monsters with average speeds of 20...
The lowest player took a long time to get a chance to attack, which makes it fair, kinda.. I think the baddies need a decision time. Or something along that lines, so they aren't extremely super quick compared to you..
Anything else, heh, nope, that is all.

I'm currently now making a timer object that will be attached to all of the players and monsters in the battlesystem...
Using this timer, you should be able to draw up basic summons. Dude! This will rock...
This battlesystem is becoming extremely complex.. And I also need to combine the turn lists with the command lists, just so I remember...
Byn suggested that I should change the keys, so that the up/down keys cycle through the current target, while the left and right keys switch targets...
Sorry Byn, but that feels horrible! So it'll stay the way it is unless anyone else complains..

Anyway, I'm working on the timed code, which we all know is annoying... And I have to make it know that escape means escape. Heh..
Escape == You won!? What the hell?! Hehe... Anyway, todays a Wesnesday so I get a huge lie in, or not, I'm still awake doing stuff. 
Finally, checking out the random themes on the misc page... Oh and the easy reading theme, that might be a bit more eye friendly for some of you lot...
Heh, here's a nightmare, having to write tutorials for how to implement my battlesystem into other games... heh, scary...

Okay, I've figured out a method of drawing animations, basically the entity object I have now has a much better SpritesetAnimation object to use, it now cycles through the animations, and runs a function when the animation is ended. This function can set the animation back to the beggining or stop playing the animation alltogether.
Right now I'm working on what I call a predefined battle, where the monsters are not generated randomly...
Heh, its rather funny the blue blob gets mad and goes red. Heh, the you can do double the normal damage... LOL
Wild-Tiger wanted auto-taughts, to make you want to kill the monsters more, so I've worked on how to do that aswell.
Its getting *really* complex, but really neat.

Ok, the frame work for the part of my battlesystem mark II, is done. This was the complex things, that wasn't avialable in mark I of the battlesystem..
Ok, what does FBSMII have that FBSMI didn't? (Flik Battle System Mark I / II) Well, for a start in FBSMII you can attack you own party, or you will be able to.
I know you can attack them just because the test pointer can be drawn next to your party members... Anyway, I have health bars, that show how much hp points the players have, and a menu object (made by Fenix) that I'm modifying so that it can call other menu objects and link them together...

Making an active turn battlesystem has been hard work, but I really like the way its going...
I really like the way I know the function that called the current function, that rules. 
Heh, and I got up out of bed today an hour early, because the clocks changed. Damn clocks!! Anyway, now things will get interesting..

Heh, whether battleysteming is a word or not, I don't know, but I've been battlesysteming and I'm working on the command list and getting the battlesystem commands to be pushed and pop'ed from an array...
This simple thing means, that I have greater control... and can do alot more stuff now, soon to work on spell, attack and item objects, and making dynamically created menu's for each player. *Ouch*

K, now I've decided what doc should come next, a doc on arrays.
Also, my menu works for Mozilla / Netscape 6, and I've fixed the crashing page on my docs page, well, fixed is such a loose word. Lets say added a simple thing to make it viewable, but at a high cost.

If you use Netscape 4.xx then the docs page will crash. This is due to an unknown fault...
I don't know how to fix it, so I'm just going to live with it, and provide a link to mozilla...
If someone knows how to fix it, please tell me...

Yeah, neat docs and I've added Aegis' new forum to my links page.
I'm aiming to make a doc a day for a while, till I get bored, I guess.
And some bad news, Mozilla has gone seriously wrong on my pc, I can't use it! The menus went real bad and now I'm forced to use Netscape 6. Which I don't like as much.

Well, if someone has a speed of 30, they are faster than someone with a speed of 60. Why?! Its just the way it works in my battlesystem, so indeed, the hare with 75 speed would lose to the tortoise with a speed of 5.
Speed 5 is fast, 75 is slow. How would I convert higher numbers into smaller numbers and vice versa?
Ok, now I have even more battlesystem code to babble on about, for a start the bar in the corner that shows you how long you have to wait til your next turn works, properly now. Now I'm just working on making it better.
Also, I had to port Fenix's menu to the latest Sphere, so I've uploaded it so everyone can use it.

Yeah, this battlesystem is getting complex and I'm going to cry at the amount of code I've written, 346 lines...
Ok, so its not quite the 60,000 lines of code that Sphere has, but I guess, if I add the code for Fenix's brilliant menu and my save state system (that doesn't work) I have about 554 lines of code. Which is great...
Basically, I'm trying my best to make a active battlesystem, like FF7, which has easy to modify code for customization, (you can tell I like customization by the fact my webpage has themes...) anyway, take a look at it!
Also, if you have a perticularly slow PC, please contact me so that I can test it on a slow pc. 
Maybe I can make a decent release version for the contest? Basing the whole game on the fact that you can fight! Heh, well, thats a bit of a lame fantasy RPG, but hey...

I've been working on some CSS for those trendy browsers, Mozilla and Netscape 6... Just Goto View > Use Stylesheet > and pick one. Its great.

Huh? I got some weird info yesterday about what people think of me... 
Kind of weird, but anyhow, for my battlesystem I'm now trying to make a attack object, so that any type of attack can be generated and attached to the entity object. If anyone has any ideas how a good attack object would look, meaning the methods and properties it would have, send me some email.

Well, I've fixed my Math.sin(x), Math.cos(x),
Math.tan(x) problems. They were giving radians, which are not degrees.
And since I normally use degrees... I have to do:- Math.sin(x)/Math.PI*180 and I get the values I wanted. Yay!
Well, over and out for today, heh. 4 updates in one day! Geeze, I should stay off the coffee. j/k, I don't drink coffee, to stay awake I listen to lots of cool music. Well, cool in my opinion!

I've been working on the site a bit more, simple little improvements and some maths revision for myself.
Although, the JS .sin(x), .cos(x) and .tan(x) methods are don't work properly! Well, according to my maths work it doesn't.
Can someone goto > Misc > Calc and check what I've written about it, I believe its atleast minior issue, if nothing else.
Well, color schemes? (I hate to bug you with it, but...) Does this website design start to burn your eyes if you look at it too much?

I wrote alot of code during the past 24 hours and at 10 lines of code per hour on average... I'd say I haven't done that much. 
Well, I have the objects and some methods set up. Which is the main thing.
I already know how battlesystems tick, because I created the legend-of-now one.
So this is just a better version, of that hopefully.

Well, this is the best I can do as far as a new website design. All those that dislike it have my permission to die.
Anyone out there know how IE works? NS is far supreme in doing some of the things I want to do, like moving my navi in accordance to the page... NS rules.
